In November 2015 and March 2016, Scarf piloted a new hospitality training program in conjunction with Australian Red Cross, specifically for young people seeking asylum who are keen to break into the hospitality industry. The Belleville Pop Up Dinner will give some of the Scarf Tasting Plate graduate trainees a chance to practice their newly learned skills and gain confidence working in a great restaurant for one night! As with Scarf’s regular programs, trainees are paid a wage to work at Scarf Dinners, so this counts as real work experience.
The wonderful Belleville chefs are doing the cooking, and they’ve put together a seriously delicious two course set menu with choice ($40pp). Does sticky pork hock, burnt orange and chilli caramel, green mango and daikon salad float your boat? What about miso-glazed rotisserie chicken, wok greens and kim chi rice? There are vegetarian options for each course, and any dietary requirements can be catered to, just let us know when you’re booking in.
You, our lovely customers, eat great food, whilst the Scarf Tasting Plate graduates get awesome, hands-on paid work experience. On the night, the front-of-house trainees will be mentored by hospitality professionals to ensure everything runs smoothly, and you will have access to a well-rounded drinks list as well.
